The Food We Carried: Middle Eastern Foodways in Michigan

Our 2019 theme focused on Middle Eastern food and culture, immersing participants in this vibrant region while complementing the Kalamazoo Valley Museum exhibit, “What We Carried: Fragments and Memories from Iraq and Syria.” The keynote was delivered by Liana Aghajanian, a journalist specializing in storytelling and international reporting focused on marginalized communities, immigration, displacement and identity.
