African American Foodways Symposium

Keynote speaker: Toni-Tipton Martin

The first Foodways Symposium event featured a keynote by food writer and activist Toni Tipton-Martin discussing food heritage and her book, “The Jemima Code,” which explores two centuries of cookbooks written by African American women. Hands on workshops, community conversations about African American food traditions, panel discussions, and other community events rounded out our inaugural celebration.

Empowering a rich and vibrant food system for our community.
